Power Systems Engineer Opportunity at Thriving Solar Startup (San Francisco, Immediate)--ID#10283

Background:  
This is an early-stage startup developing concentrated photovoltaic technology for the utility market. Our unique technology will deliver clean, reliable energy to utility companies on a massive scale – so that they can provide green, CO2 emission free, energy to the public economically and with only a flick of the switch. This company's system will allow everyone to enjoy green energy directly from their regional power grid.

Position Overview:
The Power Systems Engineer will be responsible for development and implementation of highly efficient grid-connected systems.

Roles and Responsibilities:
• Design and Analysis of multi-megawatt grid-connected PV power systems, including distribution, balance of systems and grid-tie interconnection sub-systems
• System- and component-level performance modeling, stress-test simulation and Failure Mode Analysis
• Quantitative optimization of system design under a comprehensive LCOE model
• Specification and documentation of component and system requirements and working with vendors and contractors to critically evaluate and approve design proposals
• Supporting overall Product Development, Project Operations and Business Development efforts

Skills and Qualifications:
• MS/MEng in EPOW/EE or a related field, or a BS with strong work experience
• 3-8 years work experience
• A detailed understanding of power systems design and analysis
• Experience with, and a detailed understanding of, primary utility-scale power components, including their performance, reliability and cost characteristics and trade-offs
• Practical experience with a large scale grid interconnect systems
• Familiarity with NEC regulatory requirements for PV Power Systems
• Experience working with and managing third-party contractors
• Project Management experience a plus
• Renewable industry or utility experience a plus
