Bright Green is a catalyst for positive change.

Our mission starts at home, both in London and San Francisco, where our team consists of passionate professionals, helping those around us discover the benefits of environmental practices, and reducing our own organizational footprint to realize a more efficient business. We work hard to improve the earth and community we inherited.

Our Team

Bright Green was brought to life by Paul Hannam and Tom Savage. They met at Oxford University in 2003 where Paul was an Associate Fellow at the Environmental Change Institute and Tom a post-graduate at the Saïd Business School. Despite their 20-year age gap, Tom and Paul had a shared vision - to create an organisation that helped people dedicate their careers to solving the planet's most complex challenges. They believe that the ideal profession integrates financial security with meaningful and fulfilling work, and supports individuals’ development and passions within and outside the workplace.

Our Chairman, Paul Hannam, founded a successful technology recruitment and training business, as well as teaching environmental business at Oxford University. In addition he has also written two books and works as an executive coach. He lives with his family in California.

Managing Director Tom Savage runs Bright Green in Europe and has significant experience as a social entrepreneur and campaigner for responsible business, starting two social businesses and winning the Edge Upstarts Young Social Entrepreneur of the Year in 2007.

Managing Director Nick Ellis draws on his experiences at Stanford University and the London School of Economics to lead Bright Green's effort in the United States. Before joining Bright Green, Nick worked as an investment banker pioneering the use of clean, renewable energy bonds to finance municipal power projects. While at Stanford, Nick captained the men's water polo team to two consecutive NCAA championships en route to receiving the "Block S" award given to university's most outstanding male athletes. He currently competes as a member of the Olympic Club in San Francisco.

Mel is a stellar athelete, and she has a passion for all things Berkeley, where she was a water polo player and then a coach while she earned her Master's in Education. Although she hails orignially from the midwest, Melanie set down roots in the Bay Area long ago, and there's no doubt that she's a California girl through and through--Mel spends her copious free time cycling, practicing yoga and swimming in the Bay. Much like the great state of Oklahoma, Mel is OK!

Andrija brings a phenomenal attitude, can-do, no-nonsense sensibility, and a growing environmental passion to our San Francisco team.
