What BGT is doing: BGT is a member of Net Impact and has cohosted events with the SF Professional Chapter. Nick Ellis will be speaking at the 2009 Net Impact conference.
What you can do: Join your local chapter and connect with professionals in your area. Events include volunteering, speakers, and other networking opportunities.
Blue Ventures is an ecotourism company in Madagascar whose "Sponsor a Schoolchild" program helps finance a teacher, food and accommodation for children from surrounding villages so they can study in Andavadoaka.
What BGT is doing: BGT has sponsored a year of schooling for a child for every placement we've made, and as part of our resume drive in the summer of 2009, received 1250 resumes and will sponsor 25 children through one year of school.
What you can do: sponsor a child. Go on a volunteer vacation through Blue Ventures or another group. Connect with the Sierra Club to help children in your community get outside and learn about their natural resources.
Native Energy's carbon offsets program finances construction of Native American, family farm, and community-based renewable energy projects.
What BGT is doing: BGT offsets our operations through Native Energy and provides carbon-neutral recruiting packages to our clients.
What you can do: Buy carbon offsets for your own personal footprint. Encourage your company to pursue carbon offsetting.
Get political! There are lots of opportunities for getting involved with lobbying, activism, and volunteering.
What BGT is doing: BGT has supported green jobs legislation in California and New York (including Lawyers for Green Jobs), and is working with the city of San Francisco to develop green jobs training programs.
